On August 11, 174 Power Global, a wholly owned subsidiary of Hanwha Energy, donated USD 15,000 to Variety Boys & Girls Club of Queens in the graduation ceremony for a summer STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) program. Attended by 39 teens, the program provided opportunities to learn about electricity and renewable energy.
The 5-week STEM program was planned by 174 Power Global, the New York Power Authority (NYPA) and Con Edison to support an under-resourced community near a new collaborative clean energy project. 174 Power Global and Con Edison are partners in the development of an East River Energy Storage Project on land leased from the NYPA.
Henry Yun, PhD., CEO of 174 Power Global, presented the USD 15,000 donation to support future learning curriculums and put students on a path towards green careers in STEM. "We're committed to supporting programs that inspire the next generation of STEM professionals, and we are proud to partner with NYPA and Con Edison in supporting the great work of the Boys and Girls Club of Queens in STEM education and promoting the opportunity for science-related careers", CEO Yun noted. "174 Power Global is committed to providing green economy jobs to the local community, in particular at a location that is close to our energy storage project, and this STEM program is a perfect fit with our mission of creating real change by working together."
