- Hanwha Q ENERGY Solutions SE (QES) Q ENERGY's Growth: Powering Europe’s Green Future
Q ENERGY, a business division of Hanwha Solutions formed in July 2022, is Europe’s holistic green energy player, committed to creating a sustainable, economically beneficial, and biodiverse future. The company is active in the development, construction, operation, and maintenance as well as sales and asset management of green energy projects. Its robust European portfolio of more than 15 gigawatts (GW) encompasses solar photovoltaics (PV), onshore and offshore wind projects, energy storage solutions, and more.
In Spain, Q ENERGY runs a development pipeline of more than 6 GW. While the company has already started constructing three photovoltaic power plants with a total capacity of 157 megawatts (MW) in early 2023, it is currently preparing to begin building an additional volume of more than 900 MW in Q4 2023 and Q1 2024 in Spain. The three running projects, located in the Andalusia province, are set to produce clean electricity for over 80,000 households while reducing approximately 58,000 tons of carbon emissions annually. As an extra feature, solar power plants can improve local biodiversity, as providing shaded areas in hot and sunny regions, like the south of Spain, allows for more plant growth and increased animal life.
When developing and installing projects, Q ENERGY prioritizes collaboration with local suppliers and subcontractors, which generates economic benefits for communities. In Portugal, Q ENERGY will partner with local organizations to create the country‘s first hybrid project, combining solar power with battery energy storage capacity.
Building on its active project pipeline of more than 6 GW in France, Q ENERGY will commence construction on 320 MW of renewable projects in the country between 2023 and 2024. In the first quarter of 2023, the team in France initiated the construction of six new wind and PV projects, with a total capacity of 120 MW. The remaining 200 MW of projects in the country include constructing Europe’s largest floating PV plant on a former quarry, additional wind repowering initiatives, and the company’s first standalone energy storage project.
While strengthening its active 1 GW development pipeline in Germany, Q ENERGY continues to build out its presence within Europe and expand to new markets, including the Netherlands, Italy, and the U.K. Q ENERGY’s diverse portfolio of innovative projects underscores its commitment to work towards the company’s purpose: Empower a sustainable world with green energy.

Imagina Energia, a retail business brand of Hanwha Energy and the first 100% solar energy company in Spain, and QUANTICA Renovables, a leading company specializing in solar engineering and photovoltaic self-consumption systems for homes and businesses, have integrated to establish one of the largest companies in Spain dedicated to the development of solar energy.
Strengthened by its parent company Hanwha Energy, which has been leading solar energy development in Europe since 2019, Imagina Energia will provide financial support and expertise related to the power purchase agreement (PPA) for self-consumption and energy supply. QUANTICA Renovables will contribute its solar energy and installation know-how.
The merger will be the first to unite solar self-consumption and the commercialization of energy within Spain. Imagina Energia and QUANTICA Renovables are expected to accumulate nearly 80 MW of installation photovoltaics as well as 220 GWh of grid energy supply by the end of 2023 through the project. As a result, the companies will be able to maintain consistent solar operations and reinforce their capacity to develop new portfolio of energy solutions for the market, expanding their reach and presence throughout the Iberian Peninsula. Going forward, Hanwha Energy will continue to enhance development of solar energy in the country, initiated through its approximate 1,500 million euro investment upon its entrance into the Spanish market in 2020.
“This operation reflects our vision of continuing to grow to offer more homes and businesses solar energy solutions in a more agile and quick way thanks to the incorporation of the QUANTICA Renovables team,” said Santiago Chivite, General Director of Imagina Energia. “We are proud to be able to incorporate QUANTICA Renovables into our project, reinforcing our goal of leading solar energy in our country.”

- Hanwha Cimmaron Hanwha Cimarron To Supply Neptune Tanks to Australian Market
Hanwha Cimarron has earned a purchase order from H2 Hauler, a manufacturer and designer of hydrogen tube trailers based in Australia, to supply 18-foot 6-inch 517 bar Type IV Neptune tanks to the company — with the shipment of the tanks scheduled for September of this year.
Hanwha Cimarron’s Neptune tank has met the strict standards of AS 2030.1, Australia’s gas cylinder regulations. In addition, the company obtained design registration from WorkSafe, a government agency that maintains health and safety standards within Australia, showcasing Hanwha Cimarron's commitment to quality, safety, and top innovation.
By utilizing Neptune tanks, H2 Hauler will be able to significantly reduce the total mass of the trailer during transport, improving the reliability of the hydrogen tank manifold while simultaneously keeping maintenance costs down. Hanwha Cimarron’s Neptune tanks also offer proper evacuation during commissioning, ensuring that hydrogen purity requirements are easily met as purity is of utmost importance for safety and efficiency.
Hanwha Cimarron is currently working to obtain Australia Dangerous Goods (ADG) certification in order to comply with local safety ordinances. By meeting strict quality standards while offering competitive pricing, the company has solidified its reputation as a reliable market partner.
With the demand for gas transportation on the rise in Australia, Hanwha Cimarron's Neptune tanks are poised to reshape the industry. This contract not only marks a significant milestone, but also sets the stage for the company’s continued market penetration within the nation.
